Biography and Awards

DAMIAN PAWLUS, an artist photographer, was a twice first-prize winner at the International Photographic Competition of Poland in 1998 and 2000.

1998 - Gold Medal for "Freedom Without Limits," photograph presented at the Old Gallery of Polish Artist Photographers Association, Warsaw, Poland.

1998 - Award of Distinction for "Unforgettable Moments," a work shown at the Contemporary Art Center in Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw, Poland, at
the Exhibition "Taste Of Life," sponsored by the Johnny Walker Taste of Life Association.

1999 - Participant of General Exhibition, organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, New York, USA.

1999 - Special Award for "Nostalgia," a work presented at the Sixth International Photographic Competition of Poland.

2000 - First Prize for "With The Speed Of Light" photograph of the month of January, presented by the Polish Photography Club, New York, USA.

2000 - Participation in "Photo-Salon 2000" Exhibition at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, New York, USA.

2000 - Gold Medal and Cup from the Chairman of the Photography Guild of Warsaw, Poland for: "Where The Sun Touches The Earth." The work has been on display at the Museum of Etnography, Warsaw, Poland.

The artist has a large collection of artistic photographs, both from Europe and America. His work strikes a wonderful quality and precision, all in the "cibachrome" technique, and shows an exceptional ability of capturing nature in its beauty, warmth and tranquility.

Damian, 29-years old, came to United States in 1993. His first artistic contact with photography started ten years ago, after taking a snapshot of a beautiful nostalgic sunset. Since then photography became his passion. The "mental pictures" to remember are not enough anymore;
Damian loves to register the beauty around him with the eye of his camera, through the most sensitive eye of his soul.

This young artist became one of the very first members of the Polish Photography Club in New York. Presently, he is an active member on the Board. Also, he is a graduate of the New York Institute of photography.

His works received recognition from the critics and were published in numerous magazines, including The Polish Daily News, The New York Weekly, The Voice and Magazine.Art .
